BEHIND THE WORDS
Sydney, Weenie takes aim at celebrity roll-calls and forced connections. It asks what remains of a verse when the famous names are taken away, using sharp humour to pick apart the difference between recognition and actual wordplay.
The lyric keeps returning to the same test: does the writing stand on its own? Cars, cartoons, sporting references and repeated names become evidence in a deliberately sarcastic critique.
"Omelette du fromage" - bruv, what kind of entrance is that? Dexter's Lab French, then you're straight into straps Man came in bilingual, thought the menace would land But you sound like Cartoon Network with a burner in hand
"Running it up" while the sub's in the back of the whip Wood on the grip - every bar's got furniture in it Whitney, Britney, Sydney - mate, you're naming the map That ain't wordplay, that's three fridge magnets on a track
"Bigger the risk, bigger the rack" - alright, Wolf of Wall Street Then "Chris Rock, Smith" like we ain't heard that all week One in the clip after a golf swing - proper scary, no doubt Till you picture this cunt yelling "FORE!" while he's letting it out
She wanna rock - Jack Black? That seduction is cooked "Give her the D" - mate, Year Eight wants its notebook Rambo in the cut, modded Jeep, handed her keys You're not John Rambo, you're a bloke selling Wranglers on Gumtree
"Bigger than me" after Shaq? You set yourself up for the slap Man used a seven-footer just to say that he's large on a track "Bringing the heat", Black Star, then "Mos definitely" You didn't write a punchline - you assembled it alphabetically
King of the Hill, Hank, then a mill, then the bank That rhyme scheme's propane - clean, boring, and blank Grab money, hit the passenger side - now explain this to me Big king of the hill, but somebody else has got the fucking keys
"Good brain" made you intelligent? That's a medical first Nike "stepping correct" - there's another slogan in verse Then the pump from the trunk and a "crikey" at the chest Steve Irwin heard that shit and went, "Mate… give it a rest."
Kate Price, pay twice - fuck me, the rhyme cupboard's bare Double barrel "times two" - so four barrels? What are you carrying there? Late for the talk, Letterman, hole, ketamine Your scheme's so fucking forced even the anaesthetic couldn't make it seem clean
Then Zeppelin gets "lead" - yeah, we caught what you meant But you dragged us through six other references just to collect Every punch needs a celebrity wheeled into frame You don't have bars, you've got Famous Names: The Drinking Game
"My whip rocks, Flintstone" - course it does, look at the tyres Feet through the floor while you're shouting about engines and fire "In my bag like I lost my phone" - this gangster's finished, I'm creased Imagine pausing the ride-out: "Boys, ring it again, I think it's under the seat."
Dropping the top, Kennedy - nah, that line needs jail Then Hennessy, Penelope Cruise - you're just following trails You see one word, Google a famous name that'll fit It's not punching with references if the reference IS the whole fucking bit
"On a wave, surfboard" - groundbreaking stuff from the pair "Making it rain" - next up you'll say clouds are in air Took her to dinner, got cake on the third - what a threat Your hardest criminal exploit was ordering the dessert set
Stanley cup, growing green, Randy - now the rhyme's in a coma Then Bambi catches a cap over "doe" - yeah, subtle as a bulldozer You shot a cartoon deer for a homophone, bravo, immense Even Disney's lawyers read that bar like, "The fuck did Bambi do to Dex?"
Back to Whitney and Britney like nostalgia's paying your wage Sydney tagged on the end 'cause you ran out of names for the page B.I.G. on the hip - leave Biggie out your cosplay attack He was Ready to Die; you're Ready to Google "celebrities that rhyme with rack"
That Chris Rock slap flip was stale when the Oscars were fresh Your whole tune's Wikipedia links dressed in tactical vests Take the famous names out and there's fuck-all left in the track Just two blokes in a Jeep saying "crikey" while they can't find their bag
So keep running it up - run that reference count through the roof Every punch needs a crutch 'cause the writing can't stand on its boots From Dexter's Lab at the start to Bambi dead at the end You turned gang rap into Family Guy cutaways with your friends
And when the beat cuts dead and your celebrity roll-call is done Morgan Freeman can narrate what the fuck you've become: "In a world where two men mistook name-drops for lyrical skill, They searched for one final punchline… and they're searching for it still."
