BEHIND THE WORDS

About the song

Race, religion, history, ideology and national identity can give people belonging, but they can also be turned into weapons. It challenges simplistic thinking from opposing political directions without pretending history, borders, culture or belief don't matter.

Its place on the album

The album reaches its most confrontational point here. Rather than treating culture, belief or history as meaningless, the song examines how those real sources of belonging can be simplified into opposing camps.
